As a young professional artist, moving to Colorado from Los Angeles wasn't the best choice for job opportunities. So, after waking up one morning jobless and despondent, I decided to put my hobby to work for me. Even back in graduate school I often found myself sneaking into the woodworking studio to play with the tools I'd found there; so ... I cleaned out my suburban home's one-car garage and put my father's hand-me-down table saw and router to good use. I started a custom woodworking business designing and building custom furniture, kitchens, and even store fixtures. And, by the time I'd finished with this particular path in life, after moving from Colorado in the U.S., all the way to the Middle East, I had left behind a dream 2,000 square foot woodworking studio and an entire portfolio of projects to be proud of. I still pine for that time and place.
